This is overly trendy, but... I thought it would be fun to journalize a little bit of the mundane goings on in central Arkansas Of course if anything fun happens, I’ll try to log it here also.

Go to my picture gallery

Some of the family gathered in Frisco, TX to do what's dictated by weddings and funerals - get together and catch up. We'll really miss Mark’s humor and joie de vivre

Mark was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer last year. While we knew how the book would end for Mark, the duration and content of the remaining chapters were his to write. He approached his treatments and surgeries with the same zest for life that we all loved him for. He remained open and loving to his family and kept his sense of humor down to the last hours. Mark never questioned “Why me?” in fact just the opposite - he once quipped “Why not me?” In this he is a role model to all of us - that we should and must take life as it comes to us. We must dwell on the many blessings we enjoy everyday and let them fuel our love for our family and community because we never know what tomorrow will hold.

I’ll always remember his laugh.

The weather is wreaking havoc on our schedule, but the rails are looking really good. Earlier this week, we got 3 inches of rain in about 2 hours. This, after 10 days of consistent rain, final breached the walls in the basement. We had water shooting out of the wall behind the TV. Not really good for A/V equipment...

A real welder is coming on Tuesday to do the interior rails. Plans to be done within a week.

We’ll see...

We were in a restaurant in Glasgow with the family when Pam snapped this picture. I can’t help but be amazed by how quickly she and Korben are growing up.

We didn’t know what we were really going to do once we landed in Scotland, but as it turned out, the weather was great and Glasgow had a lot to offer. Probably our favorite detail was simply spending time in a real city again. Lots of activities within walking distance and great restaurants and coffee shops to choose from. Museums in Glasgow are free and it’s one of the UK’s shopping meccas. This is especially compelling when coming from a small city “wannabe” like Little Rock.

There are pictures in the gallery (link above) from the trip. Enjoy if you like that sort of thing...
